ManyChat alternative for Instagram DMs

When ManyChat’s contact billing is the wrong shape — and when you should keep it.

ManyChat is the default answer to “Instagram automation.” That is earned. It is also a contact-billed, multi-channel platform. If you only needed “comment LINK, send the DM,” you are renting a hotel to take a nap.

This is the ManyChat alternative page in article form.

What changed in 2026

ManyChat’s public ladder (snapshot 23 August 2026): Free dropped to 25 active contacts. Essential from $14/mo for 250 contacts, then about $0.10 extra. Pro from $29 for 2,500. Business $69 for 7,500. Advanced $139 for 25,000. AI add-on about $29. Paid trials are often 14 days.

An active contact is a person you interacted with that month. A successful comment-to-DM reel manufactures contacts. That is the feature and the trap.

The bill you cannot feel in the demo

Demos use 12 comments. Production uses 1,200. The tool still works. The invoice is the surprise. Teams then “turn automations off for a week,” which is another way to say the product succeeded.

Xuios does not have that lever. Free is 1,000 DMs. Creator is $4.99 unlimited. The reel can pop. The price does not.

Feature-for-feature (Instagram only)

ManyChat still wins on visual flows, tags as a CRM, and extra channels. Xuios wins on time-to-first-DM, follow gate on Free, tracked short links next to the automation, and a price you can remember.

If you are using ManyChat as a comment-to-DM toaster, you are overpaying for a kitchen.

Migration in an afternoon

You cannot import a ManyChat flow. You also should not need to.

  1. List the keywords you actually use (link, price, free).
  2. Recreate each as a Xuios automation.
  3. Paste the DM. Add the tracked link.
  4. Test on yourself.
  5. Turn the ManyChat flow off after you see the first live send.

Most creators have three flows, not thirty.

When to stay

Stay if WhatsApp conversations are the business, if you need broadcast across channels, or if your team already lives in that inbox. Switching for a $10 saving when the company runs on WhatsApp is malpractice.

Leave if Instagram comments are the whole motion and you are tired of explaining overage.

A month of volume, written as a bill

Say you run four reels. Each pulls 400 unique commenters who get a DM. That is 1,600 people. On ManyChat that is no longer Essential’s 250 included contacts. You are on Pro or paying overage. On Xuios Creator you are still on $4.99.

Say you have a quiet month of 80 DMs. ManyChat Essential is still $14. Xuios Free covers it.

The tool that looks cheaper in a demo is the one whose unit of billing matches a quiet Tuesday, not a launch.

What you give up

You give up a visual flow canvas, multi-user inboxes at agency scale, and WhatsApp. If those are how you make money, stay. If those are icons on a pricing page you never clicked, you were buying insurance.

Trial

Xuios paid plans include a 14-day trial — same length ManyChat advertises on paid seats. Free does not need a card. You can run both for a week: same keyword, same post, compare the inbox and the invoice. Keep the one that sent, then cancel the other.
